Cut Up Catalogs

I finally found justification for my insane “save everything” mentality. I created this layout using the BasicGrey catalog. I snipped the thumbnails of their new releases and made a mosaic of tiny prints on the background. I didn’t measure anything; I simply snipped them as they were, layered them and added a few other elements. The design looks intricate, but there’s nothing to it!

Don’t Trash Chipboard

You’ve used up your chipboard shapes and now you’re going to throw the leftover part in the trash. But wait a minute. It’s perfectly good chipboard, easy to paint or alter, and frankly, sometimes the leftover part---like the arrows here---is even better than the part you punched out! Next time, before you pitch it, give leftover chipboard a second look. It might be just the embellishment you need to make that layout complete.
